About

Our mission is to create disciples for the transformation of the community.

Welcome

We strive to create a welcoming space where all individuals can experience the transformative love of God, engage in meaningful spiritual growth, and serve others with compassion and grace. Our loving and inclusive community is committed to living out the teachings of Jesus Christ through worship, service, and fellowship. We seek to grow in faith, nurture each other, and positively impact Jefferson and beyond. We are dedicated to peace and the flourishing of all people.

Our Beliefs

At Jefferson United Methodist Church, we embrace the rich theological heritage of the United Methodist Church, guided by scripture, tradition, reason, and experience. Our beliefs are rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ and aim to reflect His love and grace in all aspects of our lives.

God

We believe in one God, who exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the creator of all things, both seen and unseen, and is actively involved in the world, offering love, grace, and redemption to all people.

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully human and fully divine. Through His life, death, and resurrection, Jesus revealed God's love and brought salvation to the world. We follow His teachings and strive to live according to His example.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is God's presence with us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us to live faithful and fruitful lives. The Holy Spirit works within us to transform our hearts and minds, helping us grow in faith and love.

Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the primary source of our faith and practice. God speaks to us through scripture, offering wisdom, guidance, and hope. We study the Bible to deepen our understanding of God's will and to apply its teachings to our lives.

Salvation

We believe salvation is a gift from God, received through faith in Jesus Christ. It is an ongoing process of transformation, where we are forgiven of our sins, reconciled with God, and empowered to live as disciples of Christ.

Grace

We believe in God’s grace, which is freely given to everyone. Grace is the unmerited favor of God that calls us into a relationship with Him, sustains us in our journey of faith, and enables us to grow in love and holiness.

The Church

We believe the church is the body of Christ, called to worship God, nurture believers, and serve the world. The church is a community of faith where we support one another, share in sacraments, and work together to spread the good news of Jesus Christ.

Sacraments

We celebrate two sacraments: Baptism and Holy Communion. Baptism signifies God's grace and our initiation into the Christian community. Holy Communion, also known as the Lord's Supper, is a means of receiving God's grace and remembering Christ's sacrifice for us.

Social Principles

We believe in the importance of social justice and are committed to addressing the needs and injustices in our world. We strive to be the hands and feet of Christ, working for peace, equality, and the well-being of all people.

Our beliefs shape our worship, mission, and daily lives as we seek to follow Christ and make a difference in the world. We invite you to join us on this faith journey, discovering the depth of God's love and living out His call to serve others.
